ABCO Marine and ATG are undertaking an environmental dredge in Killybegs Fishery Harbour Centre. The dredging works are being undertaken by ABCO Marine’s recent investment of a self-propelled Backhoe Dredger the Capall Mara.
A purpose built treatment facility was constructed on land for the works with appropriate permits applied and achieved for the treatment and stabilisation of dredged material and disposal to a licensed facility.
Dr Louise O’Boyle ABCO’s Project Manager for the works said “ We are delighted to be working with the Department of Agriculture Food and Marine on this environmental project at Killybegs Fishery Harbour along with ATG specialists in ground remediation. Our key focus on this project will be ensuring minimal disruption to the harbour activities and ensuring protection of the environment at all times. The Capall Mara was selected specifically for Killybegs Smoothpoint environmental dredge due to the depth of water, dredge tolerances and to meet the required production rates. The Capall Mara is fitted with specialist GPS dredge software and with a number of environmental control features which minimises the risk to the environment during dredging operations.”
