Whiting Bay Outfall

ABCO Marine Ltd were contracted by GMJV Ltd as specialist marine contractor on Whiting Bay Long Sea Outfall for Scottish Water. The project involved the preparation and installation of a 250mm OD HDPE Long Sea Outfall from a shore 235lin/m from Mean Low Water Springs level to a discharge point in 12m deep sea.

ABCO Marine Ltd mobilised C59 Emotion Jack-Up Barge along with a Telescopic Crane in support of pipe installation and protection operations. The C59 Emotion Barge was mobilised from Ardrossan, Ayrshire, and towed across the Firth of Clyde 13 nautical mile to the works site. The pipe length was prepared and sunk to rest on the sea bed with concrete mattress place around to provide additional ballast and protection. This was supported by a Works Tug and Transfer Barge which was used to transport the materials to Whiting Bay Outfall the works site to enable placement by commercial divers.
